Pump Sensors

Control starts with information
Pump sensors are as essential to pump monitoring systems as the senses of a human nervous system.

Flygt pump sensors
Flygt pump sensors are integrated in our pumps and make up the fundament of our pump monitoring and control. The high quality and performance of Flygt monitoring systems very much depend on the sensors and other measurement instruments. The benefits of the monitoring system, such as comprehensive protection, preventive maintenance, fault tracing capability requires investment in these informative little pieces.

Temperature monitoring
All Flygt pump and mixer motors have temperature guards built into the stator windings for protection against overheating. As standard we recommend thermal switches but PTC thermistors are available as options with many models.
For advanced monitoring Pt100 sensors providing analogue measurement values are used.
By using MAS 711, we offer temperature monitoring not only in the stator windings but also in the main and support bearings.

Leakage monitoring
Submersible machines are exposed to the risk of leakage. Our pumps and mixers are equipped with leakage detectors as a means for protection and early warnings.
Leakage from the hydraulic end through the seals is detected by using float switches of type FLS and FLS10. These switches are incorporated in the stator housing or the inspection chamber. Some pumps with oil housings can be fitted with a water in oil detector called CLS. To protect from water penetration through bushings or cables, float switches in the junction box are used.

Vibration monitoring
A number of undesirable conditions related to the pump or its attachment in the piping can be detected using vibration monitoring. Our vibration sensor VIS10 is integrated the pump and together with MAS 711, we offer effective protection against a number of faults such as:
• Bad attachments
• Loose and broken parts
• Defect bearings
• Clogging
• Cavitation
• Phase loss
• Wrong rotation
• Natural frequencies

Pump current transformer
The level of pump current is important and cheap to monitor. It requires a single standard current transformer in the control cabinet to be connected to the MAS 711 base unit.
This is the basis for recording and monitoring of overload, undercurrent, running time, number of starts, pump cycle recordings, data fundamental for oveviewing, fault tracing and preventive maintenance.
